Maria Valtorta (1897–1961) was an Italian mystic who lived as a "victim soul," offering her intense physical and spiritual suffering to God for the atonement of sins, the salvation of souls, and in reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She is best known for dictations she reported receiving, forming a massive work known as The Poem of the Man-God (or The Gospel as Revealed to Me).
